The New FLIR E40 Compact Thermal Camera

FLIR E40 Key Features Temperature - The FLIR E40 features a 160x120 IR sensor (19,200 temperature measurement points) which updates at 60Hz and delivers temperature measurement with <0.07% thermal sensitivity and 2% accuracy. It features one temperature range suitable for electrical / mechanical applications from -4F to 1,202F.

Hardware - Thermal images are displayed on a 3.5” touch screen display with large backlit buttons that fit a bare hands or gloves. The newly developed housing is the most rugged that FLIR has ever built. The battery is a Li Ion battery that lasts 4 hours continuous use. Memory comes in the form of a 2GB microSD card that stores 1000 images including thermographic data.

There is an easy-to-use manual focus lens with a minimum focus distance of just 0.1m or 3.9” so it can be used for close-up targets. It also includes a 2x digital focus.

Measurement Modes & On-Screen Analysis - This infrared camera offers 5 measurement modes: 3 moveable spots, 3 area boxes with min/max indicators, isotherm (above or below threshold alarms), auto hot/cold spot and delta T (differential temperature), Voice/Text Annotation and Video Recording. In addition, the FLIR E40 includes visual insulation and dewpoint alarms for the easy detection of poor/missing insulation and moisture.

Images & Visualization -Thermal images can be displayed using any of 6 different color palettes or inverted versions of each one for a total of 12 different palettes.

In addition to the full thermal image display, this thermal imager includes a 3MP visual light camera and a fixed-size picture-in-picture display that overlays the thermal image over the visual light image to place the thermal image into context. A bright LED light is built-in to illuminate the target for visual light images and a laser pointer indicates both the physical target and an indicator represents the position of the laser pointer on the display.

Communications - The FLIR E40 includes composite and miniUSB video outputs as well as several innovative communications technologies that are unique to the FLIR line. These include METERLINK for reading moisture information from some Extech clamp meters and Bluetooth communication to a PC or SmartPhone.

Brand new cutting edge features also include WIFI communication with an iPhone/iPad or using the FLIR Viewer app which is great for sharing reports and critical information quickly.
